It is found in many pharmaceutical drugs such as Procyclidine and bepridil . These drugs have been used to in patients with schizophrenia to reduce the side effects of antipsychotic treatment, such as parkinsonism and akathisia. It also forms the basis for the racetam compounds (e.g. piracetam, aniracetam).
